It seems like every single year, summer just flies by faster and faster. Somehow, it’s already September and we’re heading back to Staples to stock upon new binders, pens, pencils and a vast array of other school supplies that will either be missing or doodled on by the first week of October. But you have to admit that even as an adult, there is something to be said for that fresh start that accompanies every school year – and this year, we think you deserve a back to school treat too. In fact, you should check out some BMWs for sale near you because whether it be a sedan or an SUV, you deserve something to carry you through the next nine months of early morning school drop-offs and late night soccer practices.

The BMW X1 SUV – Space & Speed

Chances are, you won’t be the only parents cruising through the drop-off lane in this beastly BMW. The subcompact SUV BMW X1 is a fan favorite among those who know that both speed and space are critical when you are carting around little grenades (also known as kids).

The BMW X1 is a five-passenger SUV that actually has comfortable and roomy back seats – you won’t have to worry about overcrowding if you want to stick three people in the back. The seats are leatherette, which is perfect not only for cleaning up spills but also for maintaining a sense of dignity while you mop OJ out of the crevices. Additionally, the X1 offers generous amounts of cargo space – 27.1 cubic feet in the trunk, so you won’t have to worry about wedging in golf bags, soccer gear and backpacks – they’ll all fit with no issue. Of course, if you need extra room for moving furniture or other big items, simply fold down the rear seats and you’ll transform your trunk space to a cavernous 58.7 cubic feet – more than enough room for everyone’s suitcases when you decide to head south for spring break.

Of course you always want to obey the speed limit – watch out for those school zones! – but you also want to be able to get from your house to school drop-off to Starbucks to your office without feeling like you’ve got to mash on the accelerator to pick up steam. The BMW X1 gets plenty of power from its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, so you won’t have to worry about keeping up with the flow of traffic. With 228 horsepower and three different driving modes to choose from (Sport, Comfort and Eco Pro), you’ll have all of the zip you need to get from here to there.

Best of all, you won’t panic every time you need to hit the pump for a refuel. The BMW X1 gets an estimated 23 miles to the gallon in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, which is pretty good for its class. Although the BMW X1 isn’t cheap – newer models start at over $30,000, it’s an SUV that offers great value for the money and let’s be honest, if you’re shopping for a BMW SUV, you probably already knew it wasn’t going to be a cheap ride, but it’s certainly not going to drain the college savings accounts, either.

The BMW 3 Series Sedan – Style & Safety

If the stereotypical “soccer mom in an SUV” narrative isn’t for you, then change up the game in the BMW 3-series sedan. The sleek, smooth lines of the 3 Series sedan are the calling cards of sophistication: this is a car that can make it from a parent-teacher conference to closing a multi-million dollar meeting with the utmost elegance.

Because everyone knows it not enough to just look the part, the BMW 3 Series is also a smart choice for parents concerned with safety. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 3 Series a five-star overall rating, while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it the highest score of Good. Further, the IIHS also designated the BMW 3 Series as a Top Safety Pick+ choice for 2017.

The 3 series also offers a slew of available safety features including rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, adaptive headlights, blind spot monitoring and a 360-degree camera for a bird’s-eye view of your surroundings. Drive the BMW 3 Series sedan, and it’s going to be apparent that you did your homework when it came to researching some of the safest cars on the market.

The BMW Z4 – For the Adults Only

This one is all for you. With just two seats, you won’t have to worry about crumbs in the cushions or how to squeeze in that one extra kid from the soccer team (you know, the one you don’t really like all that much) into the backseat for carpool duty. No, this is a car that lets you just be you.

You might be thinking, when exactly would I use this car? The answer: right after you drop the kids at their grandparents for the weekend. With roomy front seats and a convertible roof that can open and close in just 19 seconds, the BMW Z4 was made for adult-only getaways – even if that getaway is just a parents-only trip to the grocery store.

Don’t let the constant demands of kids and homework and school and hobbies take away from your time with your spouse – plan a date night in the Z4 and you’ll automatically feel a little less responsible and a whole lot more fun with the Z4’s quick acceleration. How quick? Try going zero – 60 in under five seconds and then you tell us if you’re still worried about little Tommy’s math quiz tomorrow. No, the BMW Z4 is the car you need when it feels like summer is never coming – it’s fun, it’s sexy and it will make you remember that being an adult certainly has its perks – like having a license to drive such a sexy little roadster.

Be Prepared for the Year in Your BMW

So this year, don’t let the kids have all the back-to-school fun. Get yourself into a new BMW and you’ll be ready to take on the new school year in serious style.
